Obstacle Avoidance Disabled problem Mavic Pro 2. Was attempting a shot flying the drone (carefully) a few inches under tree branches. Was unable to get the shot. The drone kept dipping down to avoid the nearby branches. I had unchecked "Enable Visual Obstacle Avoidance" and also, in advanced settings, I had unchecked "RTH Obstacle Check." JLane said: The Mavic's not actually supposed to automatically fly backwards to avoid an obstacle, so that part sounds fine. The only feature that allows the Mavic to fly backwards automatically is if you enable backward flying for Active Track. It should stop, though, when it's close enough to an obstacle.
Unlike the DJI Mavic Air and bigger drones, the DJI Mini 2 doesn’t sport obstacle avoidance sensors on its sides, front or back. That said, there are a couple of sensors at the base, so when it
Order the DJI Inspire 3 now from GetFPV. It earns that moniker because the Inspire 3 is more powerful and reliable than those before it — and its camera is far-higher quality too. Among its key features: A full-frame 8K cinema camera. Up to 28 minutes of flight time. 161° ultra-wide FOV night-vision FPV.
Aside from its obstacle avoidance capabilities, the DJI Mavic Air 2 also boasts exceptional flight time and range, allowing it to stay airborne for up to 34 minutes while traveling up to 6.2 miles away. The drone also features a 48-megapixel camera and 4k video quality, making it ideal for capturing high-quality aerial photography and videography.
This information is in the manual and varies considerably between each drone. For example, my Mavic 3 avoidance sensors have the largest coverage angles compared to my Air 2S and Matrice M30. On page 56 in the Air 3 manual, it shows what angles are covered by the avoidance sensors - and by interpolation, where the blind spots are.
The DJI Air 3 is a modest upgrade in some categories, a major upgrade in others, and a slight downgrade in a few. It really depends on which perspective you’re coming from, or rather, which drone you’re coming from. For an older unit like the DJI Air 2 or Air 2S, the obstacle avoidance and battery life is a big step up.
